Zen Cart is hands down the best ecommerce website platform available. There are many reasons for this, but one of the main ones is it’s incredible versatility. Zen Cart comes with a wide variety of useful functions that are built into the program. Many of these functionalities make it significantly easier to maintain a working ecommerce website, like those that allow you to track your customers orders, keep custom lists, and organize shipping information. Others can help you customize your website and build your own unique brand. While it is a matter of opinion, it can be safely said that some of the most useful tools zen cart provides it’s users are those which allow them to keep their products updated with minimal effort. To properly use these tools, however, you will first need to understand what they do, and in some cases, what the difference is between the more similar ones. In this article, we will explain the difference between the specials and salemaker functions in zen cart.
Salemaker is used to create a policy for reducing prices, which you can then apply to a group of products. You can also apply it to every product in your store, or just one product depending on your preferences. In action, you would probably use this function to set up a 50% off black friday special, or something similar.
On the other hand, specials let you target price reductions for individual products. You could use this function to reduce the prices of all end-of-line products, without not making any changes to the prices of new stock coming in to replace the old inventory.
Both of these functions can be found in the zen cart admin area.
