When using Zen Cart, you may find that you are dissatisfied with your host, or with the server you installed zen cart on to begin with. You may decide that the best thing to do for your business is to move your zen cart to a different server/host. This zen cart tutorial will take you through that process.
The first step is obviously to find and set up a new host/server. Then, on this new host/server, create a new MySQL database.
Then, using your favorite FTP program, upload a fresh zen cart install. Make sure that it is the same version as the one your original site was built on. This way, you will be certain to have the right settings in your configure.php files. Also, when you are asked about your database-table-prefix, make sure to use the same one as you did in your old store. If you don’t know what your old one was, you can find out in the DB_PREFIX setting of the old store’s configure.php file. It’s a good idea to let the demo products install as well, so that you can test to make sure everything is working as it should before moving forward.
Lastly, be sure to create regular backups of your new server’s /includes/configure.php and /admin/includes/configure.php files. You can do this by by downloading them via FTP to your device.
