Organizing your products into intuitive categories and sub categories will help your customers easily find what they are looking for. This will help to increase your visitor to conversion rate. Adding a Category in Zen Cart
Log into your zen cart admin and go to Admin -> Catalog -> Categories/Products.
This page will show you a list of all the categories in your store. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “new category”.
On this page you will be filling in four bits of information:
- Category Name–the name of your new category
- Categories Description–a short description of your new category
- Category Image–click on browse to upload your category image (Note: these images should be uploaded to the categories directory)
- Sort Order–this number will determine the position of the category in the category list in your zen cart category box. It can be positive or negative.
When you are finished click on “save”.
See the new category in the list and in the categories box of your zen cart store.
Adding a Sub Category
The procedure for adding a sub category is almost identical to adding a category. To add a sub category, log into your zen cart admin and click on the parent category (the category to which you want to add the sub category) then follow the tutorial from the beginning.
